It was a fun filled day from the start. Many writers attended... spectators, participants, lurkers. It was great to see so many homies in ones spot at the same time. The EVent was coordinated very well. The artists had actual "runners" made up from volunteers to get paint, food, drinks.. etc. also, there was an actual VIP section with food and drank for the artists as well. The venue was very swag being at the honolulu acadamy of arts center. all in all this was one of the best events i have been apart of. It felt good to be main stage insted of side show for a change. Not to mention painting along side good friends and drinking free beer! oh, i forgot to mention placing behind two of my graffiti idols. super uber awesome. Can i get a chee huuu?

What can I say.. Prime is genie! Haha this dude painted some of the most realistic pictures I've ever seen in the shortest time I've ever seen. Must help that he's a painting machine, popping out more quality wall murals than some artists do canvases. But what sets him apart is how he can convey a story through his art. Its not just pretty pictures with this braddah.. If you have the chance to "talk story" do so.. Buggah is deep. He will school you with aloha!

A day in pictures

started off this morning with a aimless, solo mission ride into town. went to check out the new action that went down at fresh cafe by Codak,Ekundayo and Meaniken.

Also at the Fresh Cafe was TNR's Mr. Rob Belgrod. I gained some company for the ride thru waikiki and to mccully bike to see the cause of some mystery noises coming from the bottom bracket.

got to meet one of the infamous Udown dudes while at mccully. hooked up some stickers... still didnt figure out the mystery noise. meeh.

On the way back leeward bound i was lucky wnough to experiance a flat under nimitz.it was a complete blow out with a brand new tube (the dollar bill trick didnt last long). so i caught the bus back to the car, which cost $3.00 for about 3 miles. oh well, it as pretty hot anyway. i found out bus drivers are grouchy. what ever.

after the sun had set, i met up with the art team (evolve1,tsg) to map out a project at the airport. Gotta thank big prime for the "prime" real estate he got us there. pics are to follow later on that.

Eat the street

I was privileged to be invited to do live painting at this months eat the street festival. It happens every last friday off the month. The Lightsleepers gang had the canvas stands up by their booth surrounded by the ono kine grind food trucks.. Not sure of the names but a truck selling fried musubis and an asian fusion tacotruck had the longest lines. Fairy cakes also had a sizeable line up well. Their brownies are addicting like crack cocaine btw. Also painting that might was big Homie james.. The starfish guy, doing his hustle selling shirts, canvases and other product. All in all good showing. Each time this thing gets bigger and biggerand I'm excited to see how the next one will turn out.

It was a great experience to paint side by side with good friends and A childhood idol. Fun way to spend a nice chunk of your days getting sun burnt.. Driving a scissor lift spray painting about 20 ft up. The best part is the "aha" when people was like oh damn I see it now.

i forgot this thing called a blog. Graffiti took the back seat and now i ride a bike to prevent being fat(fatter). its the new flavor of the month, but i cant help but think this might interesting for a while. for the first time ever, i experienced Waiola shave ice. i could care less about shave ice usually, but this is next level chit. it blows matsumotos out of the water and its out on my bike route. thanks to kawika and sau for showing me the way. so heres the pics mostly stolen might i add.

before the event at Fresh cafe i figured it was such a nice day, it'll be a waste to no take advantage of nature. so, me and the homies headed to Tracks (wessside mofo's). fishing and beers in the mid day sun!.. i caught nothing but sun rays and goodtimes. my other friend who came later caught a fish on his first cast! but that was after he got stuck in the sand. so he broke out even.

myself accompanied by two awesome artists (mr ENDEMIC & TSG) attended a go green product show at Fresh cafe. there, we duked up three donated surf boards to go for sale later. the event was nice and i got to try organic beer. was it good?? it was beer! also, got some organic popcicles by sharing some shade to our neighbors. i believe i had lilikoi?? see, be nice and you receive gifts.

it even had peanut butter jelly time on the road!

inside had all the earth friendly goodies, and even massages.

i did a fill like this two years ago,but today we were in waianae and the 'theme' was supposed to be searider (as in the high school)colors. but hey, theres no white in sea riders! its only red and blue.. some alumni i am. i didnt even realize it until i was driving home. eh, looked better with it anyways.it was a nice day, but i really hate painting in-doors. doesnt help that i was using a shitty mask because had forgotten mines at a previous project. reguardless super cool painting with the homies Prime, Dmize and Mute (transplant from the bay and Dream protage). props for brother prime for the spot and the grinds! he hooked up some mayo/mustard fries and burgers from tasty freeze (its called faiths place now) if you dont know please find out!

so i realized i need to use my paint soon because apparently montanas have expiration dates. well not really, but if you dont use them for a while they tend to do wierd things.. like clog up and spray gunk that eventually prevents any spray action thus having a useless can of paint. so my example of this is my "e" it's all bukbuk because of improvision of losing a fill can down due to expiration. so its my mission to deplete my stash soon in a "creative" fashion. Ill call it mission: RACKDRAIN.

with that said.. this is a legal production with Mr Daniels himself! if you dont know you better ask Nancy!(inside joke, and dont ask Nancy) with one fill-in color down i make the best of it, purple to the rescue.. Look improvises with a cap nozzle thing that doesnt quite fit but his chocolate starfish powers shine through dispite the set back. And even being positive model citizens having asked permission we still get the hassles from the MAN. just cant get ahead.. SMH..FML.. and EVR (Eduardo Villanuvea Remierez)..

sooo i guess ive been living under a rock.. or just stuck on the leeward side too long, but just today i experienced some awesomeness.... Boots n Kimo in kailua. so more often than not theres epic lines to eat here. we waited over an hour ( and line-waiting isnt something i like doing) but today it was worth every minute. funny i seen alot of people in 'Fitted' gear.. those mf'ers seem to love waiting in lines. anyway got in there ordered the famed macadamian nut pancakes w/ their mac sauce, fried rice ommlette and pulehu ribs. holy shit every thing killed! so now me and the wife is on a mission to replicate the mac sauce so we dont have to wait in line again.. because we sure as hell know we gonna eat that again! any way.. let the pics intice your tongue buds.

Today, i received a super awesome package in the mail today! after months of waiting in anticipation...ITS HERE. Its a collab with a artist i had admired from very beginnings of my graff obssesion. I still get blown away at his work today and most others do too, and being that he has Hawaii roots is a bonus. im very humbled to have had him even accept to do it, no less burn the hell out of it! so no suprise its not for sale.. and going straight to gallery status on the wall of my new cribaction. ill show case it for whatever the next show might be. but i think i need to step my part of the collab up a bunch now because damn. so yeah. teaser pics till its fully done (my parts).

In this case, Kenny Brimer O.G APB skater is battling leukemeia and needs funds for a bone marrow transplant. Good news is i think he has a matching donor! So bradah Kav from lightsleepers is organizing a benefit for him with art done on skateboards for sale from a slew of artists (me included). Lots of crap has been happening to me the last past couple months, but finding out about kenny's situation makes my problems seem trivial. so yeah.. this is the most paint ive ever had at once. its good and bad. good: lots of paint, no need go store,lots of paint, large color selection and lots of paint. bad: this means i aint painting as much as id like. anyway.. check it.. ultra flat in the top left... og silver krylon can (non label) and lots of montanatanas. the stash is not the biggest compared to some but hey i like what i see. so my goal is to turn this into flicks and memorys. back to the grind again!

so us old men had a little get together yesterday. our host was late so being the creative bastards we are, we set up shop and started grilling on the side walk. down the road was a 'hip hop' event were it seemed the hip high school kids were at. i mean it must of been being seen packed sentras 6 deep with crooks and castles and KAM fitteds popping out the windows. nonetheless, the O.G heads were busy drinking and eating grilled bacon and mushroom do dads and what evers on the sidewalk.. all in all fun day, good to catch up and knock back a few while loitering on the side of the road. plus, bonus of the day.. i got to talk with NAKAS. if you dont know what hes about.. im sure you will very soon, or at least see his monkier everywhere you go. dude is a machine, for real.

this was in may for the "undivided" hip hop thing a-ma-jig at the blaisdell. Big Estria hosted a graff battle within that event and went big with 1st prize getting a trip out to oakland all expenses paid to compete at the battle finals. runners up wasnt any thing to sneeze at.. 2nd had a $1200 cash prize and 3rd had $6-700.. either way the loot was flowing. win or lose (lose i did) i was honored to paint with some of the heads i look up to and to be in the same line up as them. free montanas isnt that bad either. First went to killa ckaweeks Villenzrepreznt! 2nd to big Prime and third to homie Ozwego. farmer sunburn and free tanas.. goodtimes! we'll be rooting for cKaweeks in oakland to take the crown for Hawaii.

OI!

after painting this legal in moiliili... ive found out the community there is way more open to graff than other parts of the island. maybe it was just a good day with the right people bumping into this production but i was really suprised by the positive feed back and good vibes. and to top off the day... prime rib at cattlecompany.. cheeebuya! best day in a long time.
